How much does a puppy cost??

Ok, so I occasionally get the question, why do your puppies cost more than some other breeders?
Well. There are several reasons. Number 1. We all have different methods , and costs associated with breeding. Do other breeders health test their breeding dogs? I do. Do others feed high quality expensive food? I do. Do others give daily vitamins and supplements? I do. Do other breeders spend hours doing research on what is best for their dogs ? I do. Do other breeders provide the best quality environment for them to live and play? I do. Do other breeders care where their puppies go? I do. Do other breeders spend hours training and socializing puppies before they go home? I do. Do other breeders spend hundreds of dollars on supplies, medicines and vet care? I do. Do other breeders spend countless hours cleaning and sanitizing all areas and washing pads and beds and cleaning kennels? I do. Do other breeders spend all night up watching a new momma in case she needs help with delivery? I do. Do other breeders have cameras on every female who is ready to deliver? I do. Do other breeders spend hours replying promptly to all messages and taking pictures and videos to send to new puppy families? I do. Do I deserve to be paid for my time? You bet I do! Do other breeders give up spending time with their families or going on vacation when they have puppies due? I do. Do other breeders care about the puppies health and give up to date records and take home kits for each new family? I do. Number 2If a price is low it's usually a scam! Do you really want to take that chance? Number 3. If you find a cheaper puppy that's exactly what you'll get! A low quality poorly bred puppy that will most likely cost you hundreds in vet bills later on, and probably won't look like a dachshund is supposed to look like. Why not just buy a quality healthy puppy from health tested parents with a health guarantee?
Please think about these things before you ask me why I set my prices the way I do! I definitely deserve to be paid for my time and effort that I put into my business. I don't walk into your place of business and decide how much you should make per hour.

Is breeding dogs a real job?

I sometimes hear the ignorant phrase " why don't you get a real job?" This infuriates me. I would encourage you to come spend one day in my life and you will see I work !!! My day starts at 7am by dropping my daughter off at school,( sometimes this includes waking up my twin grandbabies to tag along)🙂, coming home and letting momma dogs out of puppy room to potty, cleaning and deodorizing their living areas, cleaning and sanitizing bowls, cleaning the bottoms of living area, changing pads, letting Mommas back in, weighing puppies , checking deworming schedule and deworming if needed, giving vitamins, gathering washable pads and bedding and washing them, sweeping puppy room floor, mopping floor, organizing supplies, putting older puppies in pen for socialization and potty training, then go to the outside kennels and do that all over again. And that doesn't even include maintenance on the runs like laying down new pine bark, cleaning runs of the poop, and other maintenance issues. I am CONSTANTLY cleaning all day! Sitting down is a luxury. Believe me, I am not sitting back living off my dogs! Any profit I make goes right back into making sure they have everything they need to make them comfortable, healthy and happy! I have spent thousands on their kennels and upkeep. I also spend almost a thousand dollars monthly on dog food , vitamins , and medicine. We live in a 1970 3 bed 2 bath modular home that desperately needs repairs, and I drive a 2015 explorer and old 2003 truck! We do not have any new fancy lake homes either!!! 😂. Our kennel air conditioner and heater is newer than our house one! So we definitely aren't getting rich off our dogs! I do this because I love the breed! And that's how it should be and that's what you should be looking for in a breeder and what you should be supporting in my opinion!!!

We are located out in the country in beautiful Northwest Missouri. When it is time to pickup your new puppy we can discuss what works best for both. We can meet up to an hour, if you are flying in we can also meet at MCI airport , you are also welcome to pickup at our home by appointment only.
